I really appreciate you taking more time to go over the chapter during class time. It helps to just have a little more time processing the information flying by even with having read the book.
With Database structures (hierarchal, network, and relational), which one would you say is the best to use? I mean I know that each have a characteristics that makes one better than the other  but in a organization setting would relational be the best?

  1. Courtney: Firms use different DBMS for different purposes. For example, for doing routine processing of tranactions, firms put those massive DBs on mainframes. But, because it's a smaller DB and because they'll pose ad hoc questions to it (who speaks Mandarin? who is a good public speaker?), they'll put their employee DB on a PC based relational DB.
